Spark Power secures new long-term agreement at Rayos Del Sol Solar project in Texas

Spark Power Group’s (TSX: SPG) solar O&M (operations and maintenance) business has signed a long-term agreement with 174 Power Global for its Rayos Del Sol Solar project in Texas.

Hanwha Group’s subsidiary 174 Power Global owns Rayos, and is a renowned leader in solar and energy storage project developments.

Under the agreement, Spark Power will provide the Rayos Del Sol Solar project with end-to-end operational and maintenance support.

Spark Power president and chief executive officer Richard Jackson said the company was “thrilled” to announce the news and its new partnership with Rayos and the community in Cameron County.

“Rayos’ mission to help supply Texas with clean, sustainable energy is vitally important, and Spark Power’s commitment to industry-leading facility management, asset operation and maintenance services is an extension of that mission,” he said.

Spark Power is an Ontario-based provider of maintenance programs to support asset fulfilment, troubleshooting, emergency response and quality assurance.

Spark Power director of operations, solar, Taylor Williamson said its was an exciting opportunity to work alongside 174 Power Global.

“We look forward to contributing to this asset’s operational success,” he said.

Rayos Del Sol Solar project

The Rayos Del Sol Solar project will have an electricity output potential of 180 megawatts – equal to powering more than 34,000 homes with green energy.

174 Power Global chief executive officer and president Henry Yun said the long-term agreement with Spark Power strengthens its efforts to support the energy transition.

“We are proud to support Texas’ renewable energy goals, and we are excited to work closely with Cameron County to be a good neighbour in their communities.” he said.

“Thanks to the O&M agreement with Spark Power, our team can focus on maximising the value of the Rayos Del Sol Solar Project with the support of our trusted partner in power.”

Green electricity and renewable energy certificates from the Rayos Del Sol Solar will be sold to Constellation, America’s largest producer of clean energy, which generates 10% of the US’ carbon-free energy.

Constellation already provides clean energy to commercial manufacturers such as Kimberly-Clark, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Manheim.
